David Cohen

Portfolio Manager

David Cohen founded Midwood Capital in 2003.  For 16 years Mr. Cohen managed Midwood’s small-cap focused hedge fund.  Additionally, he was a sub-advisor on the five-star ranked Balter Long/Short Equity Fund.  At Crow Point, Mr. Cohen is the lead portfolio manager and sub-advisor on the Midwood Long/Short Equity fund, which is a long/short mutual fund advised by Crow Point.  Prior to Midwood, Mr. Cohen was a Managing Director at Igoe Capital Partners from its inception in January 2001 until December 2002.  Igoe was a hybrid public/private equity investment firm focused on undervalued micro-cap and small-cap public companies.  Mr. Cohen also worked at GCC Investments, LLC, the private equity investment subsidiary of GC Companies, Inc. (parent of General Cinema Theatres). At GCC Investments, Mr. Cohen was responsible for identifying, evaluating and executing later stage growth equity investments in private companies and served on the board of directors of several firms in the insurance, media and business services industries.  Mr. Cohen began his career in 1988 at Lehman Brothers where he was an associate in the mergers and acquisitions department.  Mr. Cohen received his MBA with High Distinction from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College where he was a Tuck Scholar (1995). He holds a BA, summa cum laude, from Yale University and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
